And of course, my odd and complete power over cows came into play -- as we left the Friary and walked away, the entire herd of grazing cows followed us. All the trees are perfectly flat along the bottom, about four feet -- the cows reach up and eat all the tender leaves. The magic didn't last, though. As soon as we strayed from the path, they lost interest. Ah, well.
