Dynasty Notes

The 26th Dynasty is often referred to as the Kushite dynasty, and was ruled by a series of kings from Napata, or Nubia. THe dynasty was marked by continued fights against the Assyrians and against Babylon, with a series of kings pushing further into the region and eventually reaching Greece.

The dynasty also marks the end of Egyptian rulers of Egypt -- most of the following dynasties are full of Greeks, Romans, Assyrians, and other nationalities holding control over Egypt. With few exceptions, Egypt was ruled by foreigners from now on.

The chronologies are much more stable in these later years, and the traditional pharaohs are as follows:

Ammeris
Stephinates
Nekaub

Nekau
Psamtek I
Nekau II
Psamtek II
Apries
Ahmose
Psamtek III
