the viewing tower at the cliffs of moher
This is not really a castle, either - but a folly built in 1825 by a local landlord to provide work for locals and a viewing platform for the phenomenal Cliffs of Moher. It stands on the headland, up a long flight of stone stairs and offers a spectacular view along the shore. It was just another rather odd round tower (see Nenagh, New Town, Golden). |
