view of moyry from the road

This three-storey tower was built by Lord Mountjoy in 1601. There is no cut stone or vaulting in the tower and it has many gunloops in the first storey, and small windows above. The tower sits on a small hill and only a fragment of the bawn wall remains. The castle overlooks the natural route into Ulster and was built specifically to control this access.
