Titulary
Darius III Codomannus was a nephew of Artaxerxes, and took the throne after Arses. He ruled for about six years, until he was soundly defeated by Alexander the Great and forced to flee. Alexander was unable to catch him, although Darius III was later murdered by his own general, Bessus, the Satrap of Bactria in July of 330. Darius III was the last Persian ruler of Egypt. |
