Dynasty Notes

The three kings of the Macedonian Dynasty -- Alexander the Great, his half-brother, and his son -- never actually resided in Egypt. They governed instead from Babylon, the capital of the Macedonian Empire.

While they visited from time to time, Egypt was actually administered by a local satrap, Ptolemy Lagos, who was a friend of Alexander and eventually proclaimed himself Pharaoh to found the Ptolemaic Dynasty.
