History
Although Sened's name appears in the Abydos King list and in
the Turin canon, there no other evidence of a king named Sened.
Probably, he was a pharaoh during a period when Egypt was once
again divided into Upper and Lower Egypt. He was ruler in the
north (Lower Egypt) from Memphis, while another pharaoh ruled
in the south (this is possibly Peribsen). No written evidence
of him has been found other than the king lists..
His name appears in the Abydos king lists, and in the canon from a private tomb in Saqqara and the Turin canon. Here, his name is shown as simply a plucked goose
A block of stone that might have his name on it was reused in
the walls of the mortuary temple of Khafre at Giza, and mentioned
in a title for a man called Shery. Shery's tomb includes his
title, which mentioned that he was part of the cult that commemorated
king Sened.
His tomb has not been found, but is assumed to be in Saqqara probably a little bit north of Djoser's complex. The galleries to the west of the Step PYramid may be a monument of Sened as well.
