This is not the "Scorpion King" that the movie was supposedly based on (more on that with Scorpion II), but a possibly different king of the same name. The excavator of the tomb believes that it is not the same "Scorpion" as attested to by the mace and wall inscriptions, since the tomb is not of the right time period. Then again, the scorpions adorning the tomb may not be the name of a king at all, but rather a representation of an office or of the nome. |
