Very little is known about the early dynasties, and the time before the "first king", Menes, is even more vague. Dynasty 0 is not really a "dynasty" of kings, but simply a collection of earlier chieftains or regional kings that ruled in Egypt.

We know of Sekhen only from a few scattered serekhs that are tentatively attributed to his name.
