Phouka Home

" There ought to be a room
in every house to swear in. "
-- Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Adventures in my old house

Or, how our home restoration projects run amok

It's happened to everyone involved in a home-repair project: somehow the easy job of replacing the paper towel holder in the kitchen mushroomed into minor demolition, seventeen trips to the hardware store, new windows, two torn pairs of jeans, a hole in the wall, and one major handtool purchase.

"But honey, I just wanted to [ insert innocuous fix-it project here ] for you!"

Yeah, right.

I've lived with a dumpster in my yard for three years because of this problem. In my real job, consulting, we call it 'scope creep'. I'm afflicted.

Our Old House Projects

Below are some pages on our current house projects, including detailed planning, schedules, costs, and timelines.

Our first major home project was planned as a small fix to our our Main Bathroom

Our current project is a complete (and I do mean complete!)New Kitchen.
