History
Sobekhotep III, the third to be named after the crocodilie god, ruled
for roughly 3-4 years. The two strokes indicating years on the Turin
canon are very far apart and some have interpreted the damaged part
as another "year". He proably ruled abour 1749 BCE.
Even though he reigned for aonly a short time in this charotic period,
we have a lot of artifacts, including scarab and cylinder seals,
as well as a sphinx that is labelled with his cartouche that is now
in Cairo. He had a statue carved that was decidated to the local
patron god, Khnum, in Elephatnine, as well.
