  Prev Pharaoh Next Pharaoh

Dynasty Notes

The 24th Dynasty ruled concurrently with the 23rd Dynasty in many regions, and was contemporary with the Kushite Dynasty 25. Again, this is a period of unrest and disorganization amongst the regions of Egypt.

For the most part, the pharaohs of the 24th Dynasty ruled from Sais. They were a dynasty of Libyan "Great Chiefs of the West" and only a few of them became formally pharaoh in Egypt.

The generally accepted chronology is:

Osorkon
Tefnakhte I
Bakenranef
Padinemti
Tefnakhte II

Although only two of these pharaohs, Tefnakhte and Bakenranef, are well-attested.
