Medinet Habu
THe roof of the tempe is accessible, if you can find a guard to unlock the staircase and offer suitable baksheesh.
THe decorations in the temple are mostly copied from those of the Ramesseum and show RAmesses III smiting Nubians and Syrians -- we know he copied these reliefs, as he never fought either of these groups during his reign. Over 75,000 square feet of decroated stone make up the walls of this temple.
Strangely, someo f the inscriptions are cut very deeply into the walls -- sometimes as deep as eight inches. He followed Ramesses II's model of cutting them deeply in order to prevent a later pharaoh from usurping the monument, although he went even deeper than Ramesses II did!
