Booda Velvets

Booda Velvets are the brightly colored corn-based chew toys that are marketed as 100% digestible and safe for dogs. I won't feed them -- they are mostly plastic and my dogs chomp off huge pieces of them and swallow them. THe safety of these "treats" has been questioned by a few dog owners....

Ingredients

From Sandi

I saw this post earlier and happened across a Nylabone ad for the Carrot Bone which happens to list the Booda Velvets ingredients:

  • approx. 40% Natural Corn Starch
  • about 40% Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer (an inedible plastic)
  • Water
  • Sorbitol (an artificial sweetener)
  • Glycerine

From Helen

One of the ladies on the golden email list lost her dog from a Booda Velvet. While they are supposed to be 100% digestible (that's what the packaging said at the time), a piece of the Booda Velvet lodged in this dog's intestine and killed her. This was proven by an autopsy.
