History

Alara was not a pharoah of Egypt proper, instead he was a regional ruler in Napata. His brother, Kashta, also ruled. They are both listed on the Taharqa stela, which is why we recognize Alara as a ruler.

Alara is often recognized as athe founder of the Kushite dynasty, "The Prince, son of Re". He married Kasak and his daughter became the wife of Piye.
